Description
Wink Tax Services Inc. is a growing Enrolled Agent firm in Troy, Michigan, serving individuals, businesses, estates, trusts, and nonprofits — across the U.S. and internationally.
If you're an EA or experienced tax professional tired of Big 4 busy seasons and assembly-line return prep, this is the seat: hands-on work across the full tax lifecycle, direct client ownership, and a firm built around the EA credential — including IRS and state representation work, not just compliance.
WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
- Own your clients end-to-end — preparation, planning, and resolution — not just one return type on a conveyor belt.
- Real representation practice: IRS and state notices, tax resolution, and taxpayer representation, using the full scope of your EA credential.
- Company-paid support toward Enrolled Agent certification and financial support toward CPA, plus extensive company-paid continuing education.
- Small, collaborative firm where good work gets noticed and responsibilities grow with you.
- Broad technical exposure: 1040s, 1065s, 1120/S, 1041s, 990s, 5500s, bookkeeping, payroll, and multistate filings.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, businesses, estates, trusts, nonprofits, and retirement plans (Forms 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 5500, 990, and related state/local filings).
- Handle proactive tax planning and client tax questions.
- Perform bookkeeping and payroll services, including Forms 940/941 and state unemployment filings.
- Prepare financial statements and compilation-level work.
- Support IRS and state notice, tax-resolution, and representation matters (based on experience and licensing).
- Manage work papers and deadlines independently while working closely with the team.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 3+ years of professional tax-preparation experience, ideally in public accounting.
- Public accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll experience.
- EA, CPA, or active candidate — or a firm commitment to pursue EA/CPA licensure (we'll sponsor you).
- Ability to prepare individual and business returns accurately and efficiently.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and a client-service mindset.
- Availability for additional hours during January–April tax season.
- This is an in-office position at our Troy, MI location.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with Thomson Reuters CS Professional Suite / UltraTax, QuickBooks, and Financial Cents.
- Trusts, estates, nonprofits, multi-state taxation, or tax-resolution experience.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Base salary $55,000–$70,000, based on experience, education, and credentials.
- Employer contribution toward medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus a Health Reimbursement Arrangement.
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
- Company-paid EA certification support and CPA financial support, plus extensive company-paid continuing education.
- Direct client responsibility, broad technical experience, and real advancement in a growing firm.
