Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded Portfolio Manager to oversee a growing portfolio of sponsor-backed emerging consumer brands. This person will be responsible for ongoing credit oversight, collateral monitoring, and risk & client relationship management across a diversified portfolio of consumer brands.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in asset-based lending, strong financial and operational acumen, and a proactive approach to managing risk in dynamic consumer sectors including e-commerce, omnichannel retail, apparel, beauty, food & beverage, and hard goods and more. Credit facilities range from $500k-$40MM.

 
Key Responsibilities

Portfolio & Risk Management

• Manage a portfolio of ABL credit facilities secured mainly by accounts receivable, inventory.
• Oversee a team of account executives handling client relationships and be responsible for hiring additional portfolio team members as needed.
• Conduct ongoing credit analysis including liquidity forecasting, cash flow analysis, and risk rating assessments.
• Monitor borrowing base certificates, collateral trends, advance rates, and eligibility requirements.
• Identify early warning signals and proactively address emerging credit issues.
• Lead amendment, waiver, and restructuring discussions when necessary.
   

Collateral Oversight

• Review and analyze field examination reports, inventory appraisals, and other third-party valuations.
• Assess collateral performance including dilution, customer concentration, inventory turnover, and aging trends.
• Coordinate with the team to ensure accurate borrowing base reporting and collateral controls.
• Oversee financial reporting requirements.

Client & Sponsor Relationship Management

• Serve as primary relationship manager post-closing.
• Maintain regular communication with company management, CFOs, and private equity sponsors.
• Participate in board-level discussions when appropriate.
• Support business development efforts by identifying cross-sell opportunities.

Deal Execution Support

• Partner with underwriting and originations teams to structure new facilities and refinancings.
• Assist with diligence as needed, financial modeling review, and credit memo preparation.
• Support documentation negotiations with legal counsel.

Requirements

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of experience in asset-based lending, commercial banking, or specialty finance.
• Direct experience managing ABL facilities secured by A/R and inventory.
• Strong understanding of consumer brands, retail, and CPG business models.
• Advanced financial analysis and liquidity forecasting skills.
• Experience reviewing field exams and collateral audits.
• Ability to manage sponsor-backed and non-sponsored credits.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CFA a plus).

Preferred Experience

• Experience with sponsor-backed middle-market companies.
• Familiarity with borrowing base systems and ABL reporting platforms.
• Experience in high-growth consumer sectors including DTC and e-commerce brands.
