We are supporting a bank to recruit a Legal Counsel position, to supports the organisation's lending, trade finance, and commercial work by advising on transactions, drafting and negotiating documents, and managing legal risks. The role ensures compliant, efficient deal execution and provides accessible guidance to teams operating across different products and jurisdictions.
The role is offered on an immediate-start contract basis, with a high potential for extension into a permanent role.
Responsibilities:
Support deal teams through the full lifecycle of finance transactions, providing legal insight on structure, documentation, and closing steps.
Prepare, review, and negotiate agreements for trade finance, lending arrangements, security instruments, and structured products.
Advise on international legal considerations, risk allocation, and enforceability across various markets.
Handle commercial contracting, including supplier relationships, technology services, and outsourced arrangements.
Assist with regulatory queries, policy updates, and governance processes across the organisation.
Coordinate with and supervise external counsel, manage due-diligence activities, and maintain internal legal templates and guidance.
Requirements:
Qualified solicitor with at least 10 years solid experience in banking and finance law, including bilateral and syndicated lending frameworks.
Background in trade finance, real estate finance, or treasury-related documentation is advantageous.
Strong drafting capability and the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical guidance.
