Trainee Investment Accountant
Prudential International Assurance plc. (PIA) is an Irish regulated life insurance company that offers 'offshore' investment, protection and savings products on a cross-border basis to UK residents, expatriates and high net worth international investors in selected markets in Europe and around the world. Total funds under management exceed 8 billion Euros. PIA also has a branch in Poland offering savings and protection products to the Polish market. Prudential International Assurance is part of the M&G plc Group.
The role sits in the Investments Team and includes the following deliverables.
- To post (re)insurance and fund accounting entries and perform full reconciliation of source data to financial statements
- Assist management with analytical review of financial performance
- To support development of new product propositions by developing procedures and controls to facilitate local, Group and Regulatory reporting commitments
- To perform bank account reconciliations and bank account transfers to support liquidity management requirements
- To assist internal and external audit queries
- To document changes in accounting procedures and develop new procedures to support regulatory change
The Investments team sits within the Finance department and is an integral component of PIA's Investment Governance and Control Framework. The role reports directly to the of Head of Investments the successful candidate will be expected to manage reporting deliverables to strict deadlines and proactively develop controls to support changes in business and reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for processing accounting data received from third party fund accounting partner
- Applies judgement in accordance with relevant accounting standards
- Oversight of custody and transfer agency transactions and reconciliation to fund accounting data
- Manages key stakeholders and with a proactive approach to clear communication
- Meets key deadlines for month-end and quarterly reporting periods
- Manages standard and non-standard MI reporting requests from across the Group
- Fosters continuous improvement and always seeks to challenge the status quo
- Capable of assessing risk and developing controls
Capabilities and Experience
Experience
- Working knowledge of different types of funds and legal structures
- Working knowledge of insurance products and features
- Competent Microsoft Excel user
- Excellent communication skills and manner
- Works well in a team environment and able to work effectively at all levels in an organisation
- Capable of developing strong, long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Working knowledge of Oracle or similar ERP systems
Knowledge & Education
- Professional accounting or relevant third level qualification in financial services or working towards achieving same
- Practical Experience in Insurance or Funds industry
