Join a global leader in trade credit insurance as the Head of Compliance, overseeing regulatory adherence and financial crime risk across Japan and the APAC region.

This leadership role is critical in ensuring robust compliance frameworks, AML/CFT controls, and regulatory alignment in a complex international environment. You will work closely with regional leadership, regulators, and cross-functional teams to drive governance, risk management, and ethical business practices.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of compliance frameworks across Japan and APAC, ensuring alignment with global and local regulations.
• Develop and enhance risk management and internal control systems to mitigate compliance and financial crime risks.
• Act as the primary liaison with regulators and industry bodies, providing expert guidance on regulatory developments.
• Partner with leadership teams to advise on business ethics, product launches, and distribution strategies.
• Drive a strong compliance culture through training, communication, and governance initiatives.
• Oversee compliance reporting, including audit outcomes, regulatory filings, and risk assessments.
• Coordinate with auditors to ensure timely execution of audit plans and regulatory actions.

Required Skills and Qualifications Experience:

• Minimum 7+ years of experience in legal or compliance roles within financial services in Japan.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing compliance frameworks.
• Experience managing internal investigations and regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex regulations into business actions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across regional and global teams.
• Leadership capability to drive compliance strategy and organizational alignment.

Language Requirements:

• Japanese: Fluent
• English: Fluent

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in trade finance, credit insurance, or insurance sectors
• Knowledge of financial crime frameworks (AML/CFT, sanctions, fraud prevention)
• Understanding of data protection and regulatory compliance standards
